Ozarks Trail

The Ozark Trail, has 390 miles of linked trail sections and winds through eastern Missouri. You can see big bluffs, caves, thick forests, waterfalls and glades full of wildflowers and take in views of the Courtois, Current, North Folk and Eleven Point rivers.

A few favorite spots to visit on the Ozarks Trail:

Johnson’s Shut-Ins

Johnson’s Shut-Ins State Park is located along the Black River and features water that flows through dips and divots in smooth igneous rock to create shut-ins and little waterfalls.

Devil’s Tollgate

Between Mina Sauk Falls and Johnson’s Shut-Ins is Devil’s Tollgate, an 8-foot-wide path cut through a 30-foot-tall volcanic rhyolite formation.

Mina Sauk Falls

On the Taum Sauk section of the trail, you can see the waterfall of Mina Sauk Falls, which is the tallest waterfall in Missouri. It’s a very rocky climb to get to the falls, but worth it!
