This is one of the most enjoyable events in the Springfield area each year, and this year they have stepped it up a notch! In the morning a fleet of canoes scour a stretch of the James River for trash and debris. Usually over 200 volunteers remove up to 6 tons of trash in this short fun float. The fees this year are $12 per person and that includes the boat rental, lunch, a t-shirt and more. In the afternoon a big bash in celebration of the River Rescue will be held on the square in Springfield. This year there are some great bands, vendors and a crawdad boil!
